What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain backend systems for our ETL processes, enabling seamless data integration from tools like Excel and QuickBooks.
• Enhance the scalability, security, and reliability of our Python Flask backend, with plans to upgrade to Django.
• Optimize APIs and database queries to deliver near-instant performance, even with large data volumes.
• Collaborate with the frontend and DevOps teams to deliver features that support our customer-first methodology.
• Address codebase choke points to shorten sales cycles and improve system performance.
• Contribute to SOC 2 compliance efforts by ensuring the backend adheres to security best practices.
• Build, optimize, and maintain APIs and backend systems to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Implement secure data handling practices to align with SOC 2 compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with frontend and DevOps teams to ensure seamless data flow and performance.
• Continuously improve database performance (e.g., Postgres), ensuring efficient handling of large datasets.
• Develop robust backend testing strategies to maintain platform stability during rapid scaling.

Who You Are

• A professional with 5+ years of experience in backend development, specializing in Python Flask, Django, or similar frameworks.
• Experienced in building scalable and reliable systems for financial applications, ETL processes, or data analytics platforms.
• Skilled in database optimization for platforms like Postgres and managing complex queries with performance in mind.
• Comfortable working with cloud platforms like AWS, including tools like IAM, ECR, and RDS.
• Passionate about simplifying complex systems to deliver immediate value to users.
• A team player who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and is excited by the challenge of scaling a product from MVP to industry leader.

Exceptional Candidates Will Bring

• Experience working on financial data platforms, particularly those integrating Excel or QuickBooks APIs.
• A track record of improving backend stability and scalability for high-growth applications.
• Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance and ensuring system security and reliability.

• A history of contributing to startup success—ideally, having been part of a scale-up or IPO journey.

• Deliver 5 pre-designed dashboard templates (e.g., AR Aging, Budget-to-Actual).
• Complete backend support for SOC 2 compliance, including secure data handling and encryption.

• Support Xero and HubSpot integrations with at least 5 functional templates.
• Enhance database query performance for dashboards to load in under 1 second.
• Add automated data validation and cleaning processes to reduce user error rates by 30%.

• Develop backend features to support "Ask Jules" for multi-dataset queries.
• Ensure backend APIs can handle 3,000 concurrent requests without performance degradation.
• Enable action-item generation for all dashboard gap analyses.
